At last I managed to arrange a test ride yesterday on a GS1200 at dealer in Dalkeith. Scottish spring weather meant bloooody cold, so heated grips were a must. A couple of hours on mixed A roads were very interesting. As expected, like driving a 2-wheel Range Rover. Just managed to get my feet down and reckoned a lower seat would have resulted in cramped legs. I'm sure there must be a better seat cushion though. A few buzzy vibes at times, but generally OK. Performance was "adequate" as they say. Back in the shop I swung my leg over many other bikes. New R1200 seems comfortable. Slung my leg over an 1150 GSA and couldn't even get it upright without risking a hernia. Sooo heavy in comparison with GS12. Normal 1150 not much better. Seems the 30 Kg that was shaved off for the GS12 was well worth it. Just need to get rid of my current Buell - which felt like getting on a Shetland pony after the BeeEmm. UK Dealer prices are just so OTT, so I think I'll be keeping a look out private sale. Maybe on here? Or trusty Fleabay. We'll see.

Welcome Boxerboy.GS's are an acquired taste and only after a while in the saddle do you begin to appreciate them.
As you are a site sponsor why not put your Buell up for sale here.
Full of rich buggers with strange tastes in bikes here.:D
