hi to everyone! i am from estonia and this is my first post. as i have a problem, i thought why not to do it here.

i own a 2003 GSA since this autumn and have been riding about 3000km. odometer on the bike is 32000.

the problem is that i have discovered a small vibration, when riding on the 4th gear in speed around approx. 50-70km/h. i feel this strange vibration only on the very glassy road. no noise. i feel the vibra when sitting and also when standing, i feel it with under the foot. the vibration comes in small cycles and the interval is around 1 second. the vibra somehow disappears when the speed goes higher than 70. when i push the clutch it disappears and when i change to 5th gear it disappears also.
the vibration is very small and smooth but it makes me wonder is it something connected to the 1150GS type or is something i must worry about.

have a nice day to all of you!
thanks ahead
Joel

My 03 GSA does the same, it's been discussed before, it seems "they all do that", nothing to worry about. :thumb2

Change the gear up :thumb

mmm... when digging in the past, yes there are "millions" with the same problem. no problem:aidan

Yep mine does it, you get used to it and then hardly notice it.

Has it got something to do with the angle of the drive shaft ?

I never had it on 1150GS but noticed it on GSA.

Put the high ratio gearbox out of my old GS into the GSA and it still did it.

I was thinking that it was related to the Hookes joint on the shaft as they speed up and slow down with angular rotation - if you have a pair, they cancel each other out (as In a car)

But that wouldn't explain the 4th gear/40mph ?

Can't say for sure on a GS box, but i've always thought the gearbox output shaft spins at engine crank speed when in 4th gear and doesn't go through the layshaft.

In all the other gears drive is via the layshaft and will probably load the transmission/gears differently. Just a theory.
