can anyone reccomend some decent video editing software ? the stuff that came with my video camera is very limited in what it can do ,and is a total pain in the derriere to use .

I had a go at editing for the first time recently. I used the Microsoft Windows Movie Maker already on my system and had hours of fun adding and editing clips, using different effects and best of all adding a music soundtrack, ended the clip with slide show of pictures to the soundtrack 'We are the champions'. Endless fun. Never used anything else but suppose it depends how professional you want to be.

Yes, Windows movie maker is pretty good, and free too. Make sure you save regularly though as it can through a wobbly occasionally.

Mixing sound, captions, video and cut styles is pretty easy and the results are v.good. It does enough and it's fairly simple to use.

Premeire

Adobe Premiere V2.0.

The best there is, easier to use then 1.5, you'll also need Encore DVD V2.0 to make the dvd's, both are freely available on't tinternet.

Depends on the hardware you're using....

The Mac platform is probably the best for this sort of thing. The OS comes supplied with iMovie which is a very capable (and easy to use) video editing tool. You can then export the results into iDVD for DVD authoring.

If you want something a little more professional then Final Cut Pro is the sort of thing used by pros.

AVID is another powerful editing tool which is available for both Mac & Windows.

Whatever platform you're on, you're going to need fast disks & huge amounts of space!!!!!

HTH

Mark.
