Really enjoyed that write up. Informative, maps and lots of images. Sounds like a great trip, thanks for putting the effort in to share it.
It's actually quite nice to sit and write a few lines each evening while I can still remember some of it. Though I kept it fairly brief, there was obviously more that happened each day that I didn't include.
Most of the food is outstanding.
Though some is a little bit beyond our simple tastes in comparison.
The people are just lovely.
So welcoming and friendly.
There were some outstanding places we stayed at for half a million Dong. £17.00
And some very good places for just 300,000 dong £10.20.
A couple of motels were a little dirty and quite rough. But they were ok just for a night.
The homestays are much better.
My trip was a little compromised because of Chris and his visa problem at the start. we had to hang back for about 3 days to wait for him to arrive and his rebooked flight home was now 2 days earlier, hense my added 2 day trip to meekong.
Plus there was Richard and his plans to get to Cambodia on the 27th so he could go on the piss for a month with a couple of others.
I told him from the start that he may have to ride to ho chi Minh on his own for the last 7 or 8 days as we had another 5 days to get down there.
He didn't believe it would take up to 8-10 days to do Hanoi to ho chi Minh. He believes it now.
He shortened his trip by flying from Hoi An to go chi Minh so we had to accomodate that.
