Hi Looking at moving my business from SPC.. The next nearest dealer is Vines at Guildford so wondered if any of you guys got the experience of Vines.. Technically ie servicing bike, loan bike and such customer service attributes that make it pleasant to do business with them?(ie not arrogant)

Oh and whats their store like for kit/gear?

Ta
;)

Vines were very clear when I bought my bike that Loan bikes were free and there was a single service per year.

I took it in for its 2nd Service at 4500 miles ,after owning it for a year, they performed a 'Yearly' Service and was told I had to bring the bike back in 1500 miles for another service (6000 Miles). Charged me close on £400 for the service and said the next one in 1500 miles would be about the same price. Added on £20 for the use of a loan bike.

I complained and escalated to BWM in Bracknell.

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole I have a number of friends that have had similar experiences. I am looking elsewhere, I will be going elsewhere from now on.

I've had good dealings with them personally. They took my bike in after the front right brake caliper seized and fixed it there and then despite being busy.
They took it in after the bodge job that Park Lane had performed on my bike and transformed it from a bike that wouldn't do 100 and pissed oil out to almost as good as new. The only thing that I'm a little concerned about is that the brake fluid didn't look like it had been touched (according to Steptoe who I do trust) but seeing as how PL were the ones who did the annual service it's more likely they've not done it.
My boss uses them all the time and raves about them. The have cocked up on a coulpe of things in the past but tehy've always gone that extra mile for him.
Personally, I'd reccomend them although they're not cheep. If you're more interested in value for money and are outside of warrantte then Steptoe's your man (he's based on the outskirts of Kingston though)

Bought from there a year ago and had a couple of services since. Everything has gone very smoothly and they have always kept to their commitments so have been very happy.

Always had very good and efficient service at vines. Mind you Martin Pullen left a couple of months ago.

Penny in clothing is always very helpful.

Only reason I've gone elsewhere for my 6000 mile service ic they were quoting me a six week wait.

I've never had any problems with Vines....always found the service to be excellent. Don't think they're the cheapest of dealers for servicing, but as I've always found things to be done to a high standard I'll keep my business with them.

Vines

I've bought my last 5 bikes from them, and they have always looked after me. Servicing costs not the cheapest but they have always pulled out the stops for me when necessary. Duncan Bell has been the top man there for a while, the new servicing team seem to be doing a good job and Penny is always helpful with kit/clothing etc. Personally I have always had excellent customer service from them

Thanks to all I will have a drop in and have a recci.. Appreciate the comments

I've found Vines to be perfect in every respect. I bgt the bike from them two years ago without seeing or riding it as I was living in Japan. Sales, parts and service have always been top notch. My bike is heading in for its next service tomorrow. Anton in parts was very helpful when I needed a Remus exhaust and Darren in service couldn't be more friendly or honest if he tried.

Just had my annual service on my F650GS. Cost was £220. Yes I had to pay the usual £20 for a loan bike but it was worth it for a 100+mile blast on a 1100S and then an hour on a new 1200R. Still pulling the flies out of my teeth.

Vines

Bought my 1200 from them in May, and i wanted it QUICK. They delivered on time. Darren in servicing has a 'can do' attitude and always does. Penny in clothing (although without clothing is preferable!!) knows her stuff. and Martin had been replaced by Chris carter who appears to be a top chap.
Yeah, they are probabally not the cheapest, but i get on with them, they like my credit card, and the coffee is pretty good too.

Tobers has just had a new gearbox on warranty with no hassle as well.

You pays ya money and you takes ya choice.:D

VINES

I have bought 5 bikes from Vines and always had super service from all departments. Like anywhere your bound to have the odd bad experience. But Have a try at buying a bike at SPC then go back to Vines. SPC don't have a clue.
