Is this any help..... https://www.britishseagullparts.com/other-outboards/british-anzani/models-1957.htm

My father had the baby 1.5 hp model from the same era, on the transom of his National 12 dinghy (C.1950 vintage), as a get out of jail card if the wind wasn't being cooperative. Our beautiful clinker built Nat 12 was sold on, but was later reported on the register as having been lost in a storm, whilst in winter storage.

Those spark plugs were great, particularly for old 2-strokes, which had a habit of whiskering the plug, such was the quality of the 2t oil. They could be dissembled & the whole thing cleaned up easily. Lodge was a UK favourite with the factory in Olney near modern day MK, now converted to apartments - there must be plenty of NOS around......at a price.

If anyone has a burning need for a Seagull or two, I have some I no longer need. Couple of big ones, couple of tiddlers. Please pm me for details.

I think I have a plug for that, they were 8 com and used in early seagull motors too.
I have a 1932 British Seagull and a twin cylinder Anzani with reverse, which instead of a reverse box actually used a system of quick stop the engine and fire it up in backwards!
I used to work on outboards and seagulls were the most simple ,not necessarily the most reliable as they could be temperamental, but they came with a spanner, like a bike spanner, and you could fix every bit wherever you were..........in theory 🤣

My guess to the age would be 1940s,
If you remove the rope pull plate on the flywheel you get minimal access to the brass points cover, give these a clean and you should get a good spark . These engines don't have crankcase seals and rely on a basic seal with bronze bush bearings.
So once you've cleaned the carb and got a spark you'll need an 18 to 1 two stroke mix! This is how the crank bushes seal and why these early motors left a beautiful colourful slick behind the boat.
I am not over familiar with this actualodae but the engine is very similar to early seagulls so any questions, fire away. Oh and make sure not to run it out of water, you need water half way up the leg as the pump is not modern rubber one.
Nice find .

Sorry for multiple replies, my memory keeps kicking in as it's been a few years since working on these!
But.....very important is your gearbox leg is on backwards !!! Which needs addressing before using at sea.
Not sure how but when you sit in the boat and hold the tiller the prop should be and the back....
Let me know if you want a plug and I'll have a dig.

@jasp

Massive thanks for posting these comments.

I will read up and approach this with caution.

I think it’s worth the effort.

I do need to replace the plug, ideally, though it could probably be repaired.

I am just headed down to my garage to get on with the first part of cleaning the C10 cab for primer and paint.

Superb - you might like to get in touch with the Classic Motor Boat Association. I was a founder member, but when we sold BULLET I lost touch with the scene. First weekend in August sees the Classic Motor Boat Rally based at the motorboat racing club on Winderemere. Plenty of lovely old boats and engines to whet your appetite.
