Currently have everything virgin has to offer at over £100 per month.
I like the broadband speed and I like the quick service when something goes wrong.
I don't like the crap wireless coverage at home.

However I'd like the access to Atlantic channel and the ability to watch TV on my ipad if I need to - virgin doesn't do this.

I don't think there's a huge difference in monthly subscription so, for those who use sky, do I have a good enough reason to move to sky or will I regret leaving the good customer service at virgin :nenau

I use Virgin for Broadband, TV & Phone, monthly cost is £28 all in, but phone calls are extra apart from weekends for which calls are free.

Broadband is blisteringly fast at 30Mb and is consistantly at that speed. :thumb

TV has all the HD channels and the package is great but I don't subscribe to Sport or Movies.

Phone line is discounted and works.

I'm happy with Virgin.

My daughter has Sky but the broadband speed is crap and she has to pay extra for the phone line rental. TV is OK though.

I'd rather have no TV than Sky TV.

In short - Yes! I've just moved back to Virgin TV from Sky after 5 years. I don't miss not being able to watch TV on the iPad (the app screwed up my Sky+HD box every time I used it anyway!) and the service is 000s of times better even if the channel selection is a bit more limited.

I've been on Virgin Broadband (and telephone) all through and, from talking to friends it is enormously superior to any copper wire based service so Sky's broadband can only be a retrograde step. Just FYI - I did try to change to the full Sky Talk and Broadband package but BT screwed up the line activation and number transfer and left me without a home phone for a week - I called Virgin and they had me back in contact with the outside world in less than 12 hours.

I'd stay where you are - Sky's customer service does not merit the word 'service'! It's fine until something actually goes wrong then it disappears up it's own rear orifice.

Another plus for Virgin from me. Got a low key TV package, plenty of dross on there for me to watch, good phone deal (200 minutes per month to any phone, anywhere in the world for £10 per month - useful as the other half is Japanese :D), and had the 10mb broadband which was just upgraded fro free, with a brand new wireless router, to 30mb. It's mostly that fast, although not always, but I have been very pleased with their service and the costs are reasonable, if not the cheapest.

Never had Sky, never been inclined to, doubt I ever will.

Virgin recently launched an app to allow you to watch some of the channels live away from home, or to control the TV, changing channels, settings / deleting recordings (certainly on tivo).

Limitations are, that they are not able to stream all channels, and you can only use it on wifi.

It is however interesting.

Try this as well

It is also available for Android.

If you are based in the UK, it gives you access to most channels live.

I have Virgin, and have for many, many years. Generally they have been good, but always keep an eye on the monthly bill, I am paying around £65 for 50Mb XL tv, and an average phone package, but as we rarely talk, and I don't have a teenage daughter, thats fine. I would not expect to be paying £100 / mth, and would at the very least check current packages. A good way of dealing with a high bill is to go though the automated call system, following the 'I want to leave' route, and speak to retentions, they are UK based, and will frequently try to help you out, either putting you on a cheaper existing package, or discounting an existing one. If you are really unhappy, start the dsconnect, you can always cancel it, but they do try a bit harder to keep you. The subject of Virgin Media retentions fills multiple forum threads.

Had virgin at last address fir 6 yrs until I moved to a new town with no cable.
Have got SKY now and BT Tinternet, prefer Virgin anyday and fiber optic Tinternet is way better than BT.
