Hi

This Virus Alert was emailed to me do not know if it is true :thumb :thumb

jeff

You should be alert during the next days:

Do not open any message with an attached file called

"Invitation"

Regardless of who sent it? It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch

Which “burns” the whole hard disc C of your computer?

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in

His/her contact list, that is why you should send this e-mail to all

your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to

receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called "invitation", though sent by a friend,

Do not open delete it immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN,

It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet

for this kind of virus.

This virus apparently destroys the 'Zero Sector' of the Hard Disc, where

the vital information is kept.

Hope this information will be of use to you!

Classic chain letter:
1: "send me to everyone you know"
2: "something really bad will happen if you break the chain"
3: vague hints of references rather than specifics

Compare with a true virus warning:
- doesn't ask you to send it to everyone you know
- specific references
- specific description about what the virus will do and how to avoid it, although the avoidance rules are the same as they have been for the last 200 years: don't open attachments unless you're certain of what they are; don't visit dodgy web sites; keep your software up to date; run a firewall; be intelligent about where you go and what you click on; don't be a gullible idiot.
