Thought I'd share my latest experience as it may help others:
Just got the iPhone on Voda and worse reception than the old handset.
Anyway I went and bought a Femto Cell/Signal Booster, its the dogs danglies.
The retard in the Voda shop at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol told me some duff info, failed to say it only works with 3G devices, stated any device that is within range on the VF Network pics up a signal, max 4 connections. Also said it can be connected to any socket in the house.
Heres the real deal:
The mobile device must be 3G compatible.
The ubit must be wired direct to an ethernet port on the BB Router.
Mobiles must be registered to the Femto via the VF website.
Maximum of 32 numbers can be registered.
Maximum of 4 of the 32 can use the connection at one time.
I had problems trying to register the Femto via the VF website, eventually I called the helpdesk who mailed me an alternative url which worked.

If you are on a contract paying more than 25 quid a month you pay 50 quid for the unit outright or 5 quid a month for 12 months
If your contract is less than 25 quid the unit costs 120 quid.

Coverage is about the same distance from the unit as WiFi would be from a BB Router
