Just planning next year's jolly with the following route.

First night at 2 Wheel Moorings in Dun sur Meuse, then on for 3 nights in the Vosges followed by 3 nights just outside Annecy.

Then a couple of nights in Burgundy followed by a last night (coastal) within easy reach of the tunnel.

So I've sorted accommodation near Annecy but could do with your recommendations for the Volsges, Burgundy and a coastal last night.

What do you recommend chaps?

TIA

could do with your recommendations for the Volsges,

The Vosges is quite long and thin. I live in the north-west of it. You can do three days in the north without much duplication if you also go to the German part of the forest.
For the north, Bitche has a reasonable hotel that lots of Brit bikers stay at opposite the citadel - Relais des Châteaux Forts. Eaten and drunk in there but never stayed. Supposed to be AOK.
Parts of the Maginot line is around here if that's your thing

The south, past Phalsbourg, is a bigger area all the way down to Belfort.
There is a decent map on this page the-vosges-mountains/

I've been to the Vosges a number of times. When I'm not staying with a mate just outside Mulhouse I like to stay in Kaysersberg.
http://www.booking.com/city/fr/kaysersberg.en-gb.html list 9 hotels - I've stayed in the Remparts which is a Logis just outside the town walls. Decent enough. The Constantin is within the cobbled centre and has garage parking. No evening meals here but you are surrounded by bars and restaurants. Decent tea shop across the road for breakfast which is better value than the hotel. Superb croissant almande.

If you like the idea of English speaking owners then a Dutch couple run http://www.coldebussang.com/en/accueil.htm - it's rather isolated so if you are fussy eaters go elsewhere as the arrangement is half board with few choices, although they will provide an alternative if you give them advance warning.

In Burgundy, I can highly recommend Beaune. I used the Ibis just outside the city walls and then walked into the old town to find somewhere to eat.

On a Wapping trip we stayed at the Dak hotel Avallon on the way to Annecy and in the Ibis Styles in Dijon on the way back. Both were nice places. The Dak is on the outskirts of town about a 15 minute walk into the centre and the Ibis is bang in the centre of the city.

If I want a nice night out before getting the tunnel home then I stay in Reims or Etreaupont so can't recommend a coastal hotel - I'd only stay close to the tunnel if really pushed for time and would use one of the chain hotels in Cité d'Europe.

have stayed several times at the Colu Du Bussang, always enjoyed it,if only for the game of trying to find a record Mark hasn't got in his collection :P lots of roads in the area to try as well.

Another one for moto hotel col du bussang. Basic rooms but great atmosphere. Mark copied a couple of CDs for me last time I visited. The Baseballs' 'Strike' was one. Great spot.

here's another hotel in the north of the Vosges, a few miles from Bitche - Hotel Les Pins in Haguenau which has garage parking and a superb restaurant. There's a cheaper Campanile across the road if you want to stay there and then walk across the road for food. The wifi in the Campanile is better! One of my group stayed there last year as he was too late to get a room in Les Pins after procrastinating.
