Euro & Sterling Bike prices V.r.t./ V.a.t... I Find It quite confusing!

Anyone got time to set up a vrt rates table for us?

Perhaps mods could make it a sticky for Ireland forum :type

irishbiker.ie forum buying & selling ( "vrt rates") looks useful:thumb2

appreciated richie :thumb2

Thats a vrt link sorted !

is ther such an application as a easy and quick
...sterling to euro + vat converter out there?

.
go to xe.com for current mid market exchange rate then multiply by 21%

Where are you Getting the VAT from.
Unless the Bike your Looking at is a "Company Bike" the Vat is Paid .

Unless brand spanking...
The usual ride under the radar for 6 months and 6000km of foreign plates (German or UK being favourites) or you'll get hit for d'vat

VAT/vrt

A vehicle is new in Ireland unless it is:
For VRT: registered over 6 months and over 3000 miles
For VAT: registered over 6 months and over 6000 Kilometres
After that add 350 to the engine capacity and deduct 10% per year of age.

So for a 3 year old 750:
750 + 350 = 1000 less 30% = 700 Euro. or to phrase it different, Daylight robbery.

No not a company bike, but Im guessing it could be cheaper to buy a new bike in the North just as some peeps buy new cars in north and import them.

they pay for veichle at "zero vat export" rate & by showing your southern address to dealer and arranging it to be delivered to border customs point at time of purchase

Then Declairing and paying vrt and vat at point of entry and perhaps saving a few euros on a new bike with the with euro Sterling difference,

or go to plan b..The usual ride under the radar for 6 months and 6000km of foreign plates (German or UK being favourites)

I was just wondering if there was a "quick reference table" on vrt & duty/vat we could leave up for anyone in the parish considering buying new or newish under 6000km bike from the uk.:thumb2

N.I. vat @17.5%
R.o.i vat @ 21.5

Being a gamblin man , id try the "Under the Radar" quitely

now thats not like you phil :augie:augie
the civil one paying 2.5% more vat than necessary :blast:blast
vat in north is only 15%

you see!..thats the confusion I'm talking about,
I think with cars and vans you can actually buy at "zero vat " sterling:from a dealer in the the north ,with a provision the veichle is delivered to the customs point of entry in the south, at this point you would then do the import thing yourself and do the legit vrt and vat things in euros hoping to drive away perhaps saving a few euros in the deal with in a few hours!

Now Im typing this I'm wondering of another question....
if northern dealers have an arrangement where they refuse to export to south as not to offend the southern dealerships?

Thanks Richie
