It's back...!! The best day out in Scotland on 13th September its RAF Luchars Air show. After having a year off last year to replace one of the runways and to keep the other operational the airshow is back and the Vulcan is due to be up in the air giving a display....:clap:clap
Theres the usual Spitfires , LAncaster, F16's EuroFighter, Tornadoas etc... excellent.

I saw one years ago at Stockport (Woodford) Airshow and it was awesome. Hopefully theres some Russion, Swedish and French Jets there this year too.

Anyway, I'm not bothered as I'll be offshore working:tears:tears:tears:tears

HAve fun if you go - great day.

In 1988, during the "Armada 400" celebrations, a Vulcan did a show over Plymouth Sound.

It was the best air show/demo I've ever seen. It was amazing to see such a huge aircraft being slung around and the low-level stuff!

When it was time to clear off, it wasn't stood on its tail but as near as physically possible for such a big plane and the ground literally vibrated. I've never forgotten that. :bow

Saw one at Brands Hatch many years ago. Flying low into the BH bowl, the pilot pretty much stood it on its tail over the paddock. panels were blown off roofs and car alarms were going of a-plenty, but, to this day, it was the most awsome thing I've ever seen.

As an Air Cadet I got a 4 hour flight in a Vulcan of the famous 617 Dambuster Sqdn while at summer camp at RAF Scamptom in 1970. Was huge after being used to flying Chipmunks at RAF Aldergrove

Was the most amazing flight I had in a fixed wing plane until 1976 when I had to take some aerial photography stuff off the Scottish Coast from a Fleet Air Arm Phantom on HMS Ark Royal. Not sure which was scariest, the taking off or the landing.

As a kid in the sixties I can remember seeing the Vulcans flying in earnest over Newport quite frequently,(with hindsight I now wonder why they didn't drop a bomb on the town) and then in the eighties and early nineties I used to see the last flying Vulcan at that time every year at the RAF St Athans air show. Another memorable time I saw her fly was at RAF Upper Heyford when she made an appearance at the USAF open day there, the yanks at the base were completely in awe of her.

Makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up-

Live long and prosper :D

Yea, thats ma coat......

Back in the early sixties, I remember seeing a Vulcan that was being used as a flying test bed for the Olympus engine that was eventually used on Concord (but four of them).

This was at RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset.

The Vulcan did a low pass then a near vertical climb on the single engine slung underneath. Fantastic sight.

Pity we don't have a Concord flying anywhere (with or without the 'e').

Bob.

Apparently there were full cans flying in Manchester last night :augie

Vulcan to Fly at Leuchars

Like a lot of Aircraft "booked" for Leuchars, I'll believe it when I see it.

Wonder if anyone can get a 'Blue Steel' to go with it.
Somehow the Vulcan doesnt quite look right without it, and it would be a nice gift to Scotland to repay them for the loan of Gordon Brown :)
