Hi folks. Coming back home for the rugby on the weekend. Staying in Cardiff premier Inn by Queen Street Station. My question is..... Are there any motorbike bays around or am I better off finding an NCP?

Searched the web but no luck. Even been google street viewing the area looking for a bay!

Cheers

There's a few motorcycle anchor points dotted around the city but I can't think of any dedicated bike bays.

Perhaps give a couple of the multi storey car parks a call to see if they can help you.

The multistory on Knox road (opposite the prison!!) is pretty good for security.

Personally I would no leave a bike on the streets of Cardiff especially during a rugby match. It may not get nicked, but it may well get damaged.

p.s. there is a bike bay on windsor place just by Heol Y Frenhines by the Barclays hole in the wall across the precinct from the Capitol centre

Northern Rock and Weatherspoons are also there, why not ask the Hotel and see if you can park/squeeze it in somewhere, there is bound to be a place. I know the IBIS has a little space outside there main entrance (as you look at it withn the CIA behind ewe) where a few cars can park---I seem to recall a path and an overgrown hedge out of normal view.
But as Simon said above, I wouldn't leave it out i the open on a match weekend!

Just had a think---read dump-- I think your best bet is too take the hit and park it in the Capital centre carpark (NCP) and pay the fee, it will be safer and you will sleep better. I live outside Cardiff (just) and you are welcome to leave it in my Garage (I will have to speak to the katym nicely mind) but it will cost you £25+ to and from for the Taxi back too Cardiff (I will be to  to offer a lift)

Conclusion----NCP my man, around the corner and cheaper in the long run (me :nenau I would rather walk 5 miles than give em my money, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask :D)

In an attempt to help I did a quick email to Cardiff last Friday to see if I could get a quick answer for you - the city centre maps don't show any bike spaces.

This arrived today!:blast

Dear Mr Brazier

Motorcycle Parking

Thank you for your enquiry dated 5 November 2010 regarding motor cycle parking provision within the city centre.

Cardiff Council recognises that motorcycles can provide an alternative means of travel to the private car, and will provide facilities to promote this form of transport accordingly. However, in view of the substantial changes to Cardiff City centre many parking bays have been removed and or relocated and as this is ongoing our original on line map was significantly out of date and was removed.

However in order to assist you, motorcycle parking bays currently exist around the city centre at the following locations:

• Windsor Place (security rails provided)
• Churchill Way (security rails provided)
• Westgate Street, new bay near Quay Street (security rails provided)
• Mary Ann Street, off access ramp to St Davids II complex
• Charles Street (There is a bay due to be implemented in the closed end)

In addition Motorcycles may park free of charge in the on-street pay-and-display bays. This is mentioned on the tariff sheet on the pay machines and is also on the tariff page displayed on the Council's website, however if riders make use of these facilities this authority appeals to riders to use discretion and make efficient use of the bays by allowing more than one motor cycle to park in a bay.

Finally I can inform you that Cardiff Council are currently reviewing the parking and transport strategy and this will result in the provision of improved facilities and information.

I hope cutbacks will put a stop to this complete waste of public resources! A short email with the relevant answer was all that was needed!(preferably in less than a week!)
