Comments from A Welsh Trail Rider

Will also bring up at the next Mid Wales group TRF meeting which is on 22nd
Feb. By the way, the Mid Wales group is in danger of folding as at the AGM
in January, no-one came forward to fill the post of Chairman and Secretary.
The next meeting is an EGM and hopefully these two posts will be filled
then, but if not then the group will cease to exist.
One of the options discussed to make the group more viable, was alternating
the meeting places between a more southerly pub and a more northerly one.
Currently some members travel up to 70 miles to attend meetings, with most
people traveling more than 20 miles, so it is not surprising that attendance
is sometimes low. It is 160 miles from Ystradgynlais in South Powys to
Machynlleth in North Powys, and considering that we ride lanes in Gwynedd as
well as Powys and Ceredigion, you can see we have a huge rural location
problem!
So if any of you out there are TRF members and are near enough to become
involved with the Mid Wales group which currently meets in Rhayader, let me
know.

Reply from the council which confirms GAP is now clossed for ever.
The Gap Road no longer has vehicular rights. It became a Restricted
Byway on November 16th, when the Natural Environment and Rural
Communities Act became law. At present no-one has claimed vehicular
rights for the road under exceptions to the act.
Previously the Gap Road was open during March and from 1st September
to 15th October every year. All former Roads Used as Public Paths
have become Restricted Byways and no longer have vehicular rights.
I hope this answers your query but if you need any more information
please contact me again.
