Will also bring up at the next Mid Wales group TRF meeting which is on 22nd
Feb. By the way, the Mid Wales group is in danger of folding as at the AGM
in January, no-one came forward to fill the post of Chairman and Secretary.
The next meeting is an EGM and hopefully these two posts will be filled
then, but if not then the group will cease to exist.

One of the options discussed to make the group more viable, was alternating
the meeting places between a more southerly pub and a more northerly one.
Currently some members travel up to 70 miles to attend meetings, with most
people traveling more than 20 miles, so it is not surprising that attendance
is sometimes low. It is 160 miles from Ystradgynlais in South Powys to
Machynlleth in North Powys, and considering that we ride lanes in Gwynedd as
well as Powys and Ceredigion, you can see we have a huge rural location
problem!

So if any of you out there are TRF members and are near enough to become
involved with the Mid Wales group which currently meets in Rhayader, let me
know.

Reply from the council which confirms GAP is now clossed for ever.:(

The Gap Road no longer has vehicular rights. It became a Restricted
Byway on November 16th, when the Natural Environment and Rural
Communities Act became law. At present no-one has claimed vehicular
rights for the road under exceptions to the act.
Previously the Gap Road was open during March and from 1st September
to 15th October every year. All former Roads Used as Public Paths
have become Restricted Byways and no longer have vehicular rights.
I hope this answers your query but if you need any more information
please contact me again.

Apart from those that currently have Byway claims, under any of the exceptions to the act regarding vehicular access.
Can this lady pass details to you of routes with claims lodged?
I am very suprised that nobody has a Byway claim on Gap Road.:nenau
I will ask the people in www.CRAG-UK.org if they know any different.

Gap Road.

A little birdie has told me:
"New signage erected, saying it's only open from 1st March to 30th March, and 2nd Sept to 14th Oct. Except for access at all other times."

Use it.....:thumb

Got to do it - the GAP that is.

What do you think about the dis-array in the Welsh TRF?
That is probably why everyone assumed the local TRF would bang the claims in.

Same happened with the TROD.
Hope Starta Florida does not get restricted, but I believe that is a byway.

The lady at the council (Avril) is not that cooperative on lists of claims. "ask which lane, with co-ordinates, and I will tell you if it is closed (restricted byway).

Sorry, I can't comment on the fortunes of the TRF in that area.

Monk's Trod has had a vehicular TRO on it for sometime now, the order was listed on a Powys CC document as this:

IKEN NO. 1118
DETAIL OF BYWAY CLOSURE COMMENCED ORDER EXPIRES
1. Monk’s Trod, Elan Valley (Byway No LC296) between its junction with the C204 Rhayader to Cwmystwyth Road near Pont ar Elan and the County boundary with Ceredigion on the River Claerwen, a distance of about 5.8 miles (9.3 kilometres) - closed to motor vehicles including motor cycles 1st March 2002 30th November 2006

And, I believe the TRO was re-issued to follow on from 30th Nov 2006, so it is no go! Shame really because it was a brilliant lane to ride, but the damage due to the detouring was terrible so a TRO was the only answer.
