Wanted: room to rent Gloucester

So, remarkably someone has offered me a job. They are doing due diligence at the moment so I don't have a start date.

The job is in Gloucester, based not far from Neal Fraser's motorcycle shop. If it all works out then I'll relocate permanently. During the 6 month probation period I will be looking to rent a room in a house share as I don't want to commute every day as a) this will cost less and b) I'll get 2 extra hours in bed each morning.

So, to save me from Gumtree angst, has anyone got, or know someone with a spare room that is available? Somewhere in the posher/newer bits of Quedgeley, Hardwicke, Kingsway or even as far out as Stonehouse would fit the bill. Likely to be there weekdays only.

I don't know of any and live over the water in the Forest but there are a few places i'd rather not want to live and Kingsway is one of them, probably some nice parts of it but it does get a bad press as does Coney Hill, Matson, White City and Tredworth!
If you hear of any and want advice on the area let me know, SWMBO's son was an Estate Agent and I can ask his advice.
I know you think 'he lives near Cinderford what does he know' thats how I know

Thanks for the offer. I spent 15 years working at Xerox so most of those names are familiar to me as colleagues lived in or close to them, and some will become even more familiar as I go about my statutory duties.

From ads on Gumtree there seem to be quite a few new houses in Kingsway with a mix of large detached 4 bed houses, 2 bed semis, apartments etc. All crammed in with not much space between buildings. Not somewhere I'd want to live long term but would suffice in the short term whilst I complete the probation period & other family matters are resolved.

Long term, if I stay in Glos then I'd look to sell up in Abergavenny & buy somewhere in Chletenham near Pitville Park, close to some friends & away from the "patch".
