They are good (and my model will NOT be relevant to your daughter) - we bought a new GTI up about 4 years ago - replacing an RS Focus (345 hp 4 WD) - Up is much more fun - quite easy to "embarrass" the average sports car driver ... and can give an easy 60mpg + if driven sensibly. Heated seats , cruise control etc etc. Never an issue with it - but only 35,000 miles done. Only two tyres changed .
