Devon knows how....
At Ocean Plymouth Motorrad we are currently looking to recruit a skilled & experienced Motorcycle Technician.

Ideally we are looking for a BMW qualified Senior Technician of the highest calibre to come and live and work in sunny Devon. We need someone to help drive the business forward, who is eager to put in the hours to ensure the company succeeds and is capable of rattling through the work with an attention to detail and a quality focus that is second to none. The successful candidate must be skilled in all aspects of diagnostics, servicing and bike repairs, along with excellent customer handling skills and the ability to work to the highest standards.

Combine this with a passion for motorcycles and you could be right for the job.

In return for fulfilling all these criteria we will reward the right applicant with the remuneration package and working environment they deserve.

If this sounds like you, I want to talk to you.
Call Ocean Plymouth Motorrad on 01752 202828 and ask for Peter Cramp.

I like your style - straight to the point!

However, perhaps you could tell me a little bit more about yourself first ;)

I'm sure you wouldn't want the whole world knowing what you could be earning...

I can be contacted on 01752 202828 or you may want to email your cv to [email protected]

could be earning ? ?? put in the hours ??

don't make me laugh.

sounds like you want 8:00 am till 6pm 6 days a week to me.

all to help boost the salesmans bonuses, who then smarm around your arse so you help them 'look after their customer'

maybe for 25k plus a small bonus then ?

am i right or am i right, mr creampie ?

BTDT...got the T-shirt thx :thumb

Damn

You got it all worked out already.. :(

Suppose I'll have to revert to offering the 5 days a week 8.30 - 5.00 with one Saturday in three (and the following Monday off) then.

All that and working for a company that expects customer focus from ALL of its team members AND for a package that would evidently leave you with money to burn....

Ah well, it was worth a try..

err....so, wrong then Herr Kaiser

Thanks Bryn

It should appear in MCN next week and is also posted on the Ocean website but I thought it was worth a shout on here.

fingers crossed.

Serious question but how does anyone become a BMW qualified Senior Technician? I assume they must start off working for a "lesser" marque and then work up to BMW status. Presumably, another BMW dealer must take on someone as an apprentice for them to get the training and experience. This must take time and money for this dealership.

I assume that you therefore want to "head hunt" someone who has done their training at another dealer? I can understand if an employee from another region is moving to Devon and wants to relocate but otherwise how many BMW Senior Technicians are there about in Devon?

I understand that from a business sense it is easier to buy in someone who is already trained up but I would have thought it would make sense to train up people internally. Perhaps customers would not like to think they had a trainee working on their expensive bike? I can understand that opinion and you want your workshop to be staffed by only fully qualified staff.

So serious question, and in no way critical of Ocean, but where do BMW technicians come from? Is there an intensive course run by BMW UK that they attend before they are ever let loose on a paying customers bike?

Part of the reason I ask is because I know of a young lad who wants to become a bike mechanic and not sure of the route into this carreer.

Cheers

Sid

First step along the route is to get a recognised qualification in motorcycle maintainance / engineering. Theres lots of places doing them now - usually 2 years at ONC level

Then get a job as a trainee - depending on age and experience.

Then get sent on the Factory training courses by the company.

After at least 5 years on the job - you'll be ready to start 'specialising' if you wanted - get another job at a specific type only dealership as a mechanic and do another 5 yrs - again going on all the relevant courses.

only then are you at the at the level that Ocean are looking for.
