Hi all, posted a thread about my f650gs rpm not working and engine stopping in motion, went to the bmw garage yesterday (all day) found the problem :( we think. now take this into account the bike is a month old, so please LOOK to check yours. the over flow pipe on the battery which is pushed on not held by anythink had fallen off and dripped acid down the side of the bike. causing damage to the frame, engine caseing, engine, engine protector cover and eroded the spark plug. as from yesterday my pride and joy is sitting in the garage at bmw and not mine :tears

I got rid of the stock battery and bought a westco gel sealed battery. No fear of leaking acid all over the place plus it has more oomph than stock.

Smiler, I am sorry for your loss, are they going to give you a replacement? Hope all goes well

Common problem. And seems to fall off not long after repositioning. I had to wire mine on.
