-Is it a good idèa to fight with dogs regularly, then? :nenau
'come on, get undressed and nick the food from a pitbull! :D

I remember the movie Garp;
a dog bite his ear. When he grew up and had another fight with the same dog, he bite the dogs ear... off! I guess the dog got the picture. :D

free maps

Warthog,

You've already said somewhere that you're not going to Brasil, but if you see the light and change your mind :D , you can download brazilian maps FOC from HERE .

The maps are developed by vonlunteers and they're free, you only need mapsource installed!

Watch out for the wheel bearings on the GS fully loaded, I'm just finishing off a 3 months (20,000 Km) trip and got stuck in France (45 miles from Bolougne) with a broken down bike :( , it was really sad to see our bike being towed yesterday.

Anyway, best of luck and I'm going back to Brasil for good soon, and you're very Welcome to spend a few days at my place there, should you change your mind.

p.s. - We did some light off road with Margus in Estonia (great fun :bounce1 ) and some hard off road in Romania, fully loaded... a bit scary really

Thans for the advice, especially on the bearings. I have a spare Final Drive bearing, but no wheel bearings. The bike only has 14000 miles (22000km) and this is all roads, so I hope that itwill survive OK!!

Thanks also for the offer of accommodation :thumb. But given our timelines, I'm pretty sure that Brasil is too muchfor 3 months, except for Iguazu!!

Nick,
What is your schedule?

1) Where does it begin, middle , end.

2) Have you a timescale of events roughly planned out?

3) Are there any must do / see items on the itinary?

Enjoy it mate. When I'm dragging my weary arse along the M27, I'll think of you enjoying yerself. :P

We fly out next monday and are back on the 27th Dec 2006.
We hope to be in Ushuaia, at Cape Horn about 4 weeks into the trip. Down there the Perito Moreno glacier is a must too. But on the way there we really want to see the Penisula Valdes: a huge nature reserve: birds, seals penguins, whale (Killer, South Right etc) Then we have to do the Ruta 40: about 500 miles of off-road!! After Ushuaia, its north for 400 miles then West across the Andes into Chile. Straight north through Chile for about 1 month till we reach the Atacama desert. See the saltlakes and flamingoes, before crossing the Andean plateau into Northern Argentina up to the Iguazu falls on the Argentine, Brasilian, Paraguayan border. Then south to Buenos Aires for Christmas and then the flight home :(
