I found that by washing & using the Nikwax waterproofing substance, the suit didnt hold as much water when wet. The water seemed to bead off rather than absorb into the outer.

I was coved in engine oil ( to embarrassed to tell the story ) on my R2 suit after two washes at 60C they were like new no damage to the leather .

I have had the same problem with the suede cracking and looking like shit.They were only washed on a 30 degree wash.
