I notice that when I fill her up there is water sat in the filler cap, I can see the drain hole that Im guessing should let the water drain away??

Anyone else notice this in their 1150?

Mine did the same air jet wouldnt work put release fluid down it and left it for a few days then blew it out ,the dirt was hard packed in the hole .

Mine was bits of rust from the metal pipe which forms the drain hole... unfortunately its in a spiral and then the rubber pipe is joined to it further down... I took the whole assembly to bits, and used a bit of wire to poke away at the obstruction until I cleared it.... even an airline wouldn't clear it...

Once sorted everything back together and now every so often drop a bit of oil down the drain hole to keep it from rusting up again (they're a bit prone to it)

Bear in mind you may need a replacement seal on the filler if you take the cap completely off, as it swells with the petrol/vapours

I notice it in my 1100 - thanks for the posts on how to sort it - mind you, even when the water gets into the fuel it seems to cause no problems ... but it has been a niggle so I will put on my reading glasses next time and notice the drain hole!

yup.....new seal ordered form motorworks.

Ive taken it all to bits and the spiral is clear, Its further down the pipe so a bit more work is needed.

Stick it in the airing cupboard overnight. Should dry out and return to size.
Bit of petroleum jelly applied also helps seat it properly if still a little oversize.

If the spiral is clear, you may as well take the fuel pump out to get at the rest of the pipework, and while you're at it replace the fuel filter ;)

You may need a new seal for that as well :D Give motorworks a call and they'll hopefully add a seal and a fuel filter to the order.. don't forget to have a couple of fuel line clamps to replace the one's you'll ruin either side of the old filter ;)

Thats what so good about the GS... always something else to do :D

My old 1100 suffered from this. I found the end of the drain pipe fit nicely into the end of my compressor so hooked it up and off it went. Pressure built up for a few seconds and i was just about to chicken out when there was a pop and a jet of water and sludge shot into the air. After that no problems at all:)
