Been loosing a bit of coolant from the bottle on the T max but not had it long and the dealer had done some work on it before i picked it up. ran it up yesterday and noticed a leak from water pump, using a mirror i can see its coming from a small hole in the underside of the pump which looks like its supposed to be there. Is this an indication that the shaft seal has gone ?
Don't want to order all the parts for a full rebuild till i know for sure what the problem is.
Dont think it matters what bike or car as i have seen these holes on other water pumps over the years but don't know what they are for :nenau
cheers

Usually mean that you have a leak past the shaft seal of the water pump

If it's a combined waterpump oil pump on the same shaft it was a way of seperating the two fluid impellers so as there is no chanc eof a mix between via the pump section

Bloody mechanical seal is £24 on it's own  and need special tool to remove / fit new one + all the other seals and gaskets. Bollicks
