Hi guys
just looking at www.quellidellelica.it - italian forum dedicated to all BMWs. I saw this treatment they do to clean the combustion chamber from carbon deposit in high-milage engines without opening the heads.
Basically they connect a hose to one of the carb vacuum plugs and let de-ionised water go through (about 250 ml) while the engine is revved at 3,000 RPM.
Apparently many people managed to sort out detonation problems due to dirt stuck on the chamber's surface.
Do you know anything about this?
Did a search but found nothing - maybe wrong word?

What they don't tell you though is....

This kind of thing is the equivalent to water injection, theres been threads on this before, anyway the water treatment will remove carbon deposits but it will also attack the carbon seal around the side of the piston... ( this is the thing that you've spent many a happy hour carefully running the engine in for, to build up and slow oil consumption)... and the engine will start to burn oil again....its a visciuos circle.:)

Now then, Tony. Was that a viscious or viscous circle? :D
