Anyone have any experience of anything similar to a Ortlieb duffle bag? need one for the back rack of the bike to hold tent and sleeping bags etc.

Ortlieb ones looks good but i dont want to spend anything like the £60 they seem to be.

cheers, Dave

You can buy other bags, but the Ortlieb ones are tried and tested. Not nearly waterproof or a little bit waterproof - totally waterproof :thumb

I think £60 for a guarantee that my gear is dry is a bargain

Check out LOMO from Glasgow...

They manufacture the things .... as good as the O ones

Hein Goering :ronno do some very good and very durable bags for half the price (at least the were a few years back when I got mine). :thumb2

We brought 4 of the Aldi ones the other day, All our camping gear was in teh back of the pick up in these and they didnt leak a drop, highly recommended. And they were even colour co-ordinated with my van. Sweet!

How they make them for that much is amazing!

The Lidl ones were only 40l I think.
If you want to strap something across the back of the pillion and over the panniers then I think people suggest 80L'ish. Good to have compression straps to stop flapping in the wind etc.

[email protected]. try these people quick delivery i bought the 89ltr orlieb rackpack £52 free delivery. yellow, red ,black, - small to large. fits just nice accross the back on the panniers 70" long. Smaller one are cheaper, med -£44

+1 you get what you pay for, im very lucky that i get ortlieb stuff for free and can vouch for its quality. ive used mine on some tough trips without any probs while on the other hand ive seen most of the cheap stuff fail when the going gets tough.

Ask at your local Hein Gericke store

My local store at Farnborough has a extensive range of waterproof bag liners including those roll-up top bags ( 60 litres and 40 litres ) and pannier bags in its store room......they havent got them on display but they do stock them.

The yellow and black 60 litres bag cost me £30 and its good quality.

Also try a military store...a proper military store rather than a camping store as soldiers use those things all the time, but they tend to buy far more affordable ones made by companies like Highlander.

"Hein Gerko" do roll bags up to 60 lts, they are completely waterproof, I've used one for years, not expensive either, think I paid £11 for a 40 litre...
