I picked up a second hand BMW nav IV today.
Seems ok overall, but I noticed that the backlight is rather dim (set at 100%), compared to my previous unit, Zūmo 550.

Is this a bug, a fault or a feature? Anybody noticed something similar?

The 100% brightness should be bright, if you see what I mean.

As to whether yours is not as bright as bright as it should be might well depend on your expectations and / or eyesight.

Find another one and compare.

Eyesight is OK, expectations are high.
100% brightness IS very bright on my 550, but isn't on my 660.

Since I live in the Deep Forests of Sweden there isn't much for me to compare with, except for what I have at hand...
Thats why i'm reaching out on the net, asking if anyone else has made/can make a side-by-side comparison at 100% backlight between the 550 and 660 to see if there is/should be any significant difference in strenght.

I have owned both devices.

Both should be bright (ie. Very bright and clear / easy to read ) at 100%.

Check your software is up-to-date:

Changes made from version 4.10 to 4.20:
Software update restores Bluetooth settings to default values. Bluetooth devices must be paired with the zumo again.
Added the ability to reset the odometer map field.
Increased Bluetooth volume when connected over A2DP.
Improvements to screen brightness.
Fixed crashes that occur when importing long routes from MapSource.
Other general software improvements.

Also, have a look at:

Well I guess that indicates that my backlight has seen better days and probably will fail soon.
Thanks for the info Wapping! :beerjug:
