weak tyre valve?

on a ride out today the front end felt a bit light so i checked the tyre pressures,both were down.I topped them up, but doing the rear with garage compresser was really awkward, so i pushed a little harder and the tyre valve snapped halfway down the threaded bit, with air leaking i managed to get the dust cap on passed the broken part and limped home.Anybody else had this? or am i just cackhanded?

Nah, not really, do yourself a favour and spend £3.00 on a brass right angle tyre valve extension from your local bike dealer. You can actually buy them to fit permanently but why bother, just leave it in your pocket for top up time !

You can buy 'flexy' rubber ones about 6" long which I find easier to attach than the right-angle ones, between 'awkward' spokes.

Me thinks you should fill your tyres with expanding foam, that will solve your poblem.
