Just lost my free website from Windows Live and I need to set up another. I don't mind paying as it is a business expense but I'd like to know who uses what and your thoughts on who might be best to host my website - price vs preformance - ease of use etc.
Thanks Richard

GoDaddy. Easy. Cheap. Excellent 24hr American service. Pretty girls.

I have used www.krystal.co.uk for my websites. They're UK based and support has been good when I've needed it. Beware doing a search for "best web hosting" or something along those lines as I reckon that most hosting companies make up their own supposed review pages, obviously pacing themselves at the top. I did this with an american company "Just host" and they were rubbish!

If you do a search, you'll find that a member of this site has a web hosting service, and comes highly recommended. I'm on such a slow connection at the moment that I can't point you in the right direction, but Fanum of this parish has been most helpful in the past, and I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction if you ask him. :thumb2

Hi, not sure what website you want to put up, but some have bandwidth clauses, or upload / download limits in place so they save space as well as bandwidth. Look into that as well. I host quite a few photos so I needed to upgrade at some point. Might be worth keeping that in mind too.
HTH.

www.fast2host.co.uk

Is the one being talked about by the previous poster. Fanum uses them and I have about 25 sites/domains hosted through them. Very helpful UK company and discounts UKGSER I believe.

15% discount IIRC......

I've inherited a site to look after that isn't with F2H, and the day when it comes up for renewal, I shall be moving it directly to Fast2Host......I've never had any downtime with F2H, but with the cheapo company the site I'm looking after is with, there have been 3 outages of 24 hours or more......and that's only the ones I know about 'cos I happened to try logging in

For a commercial website, that's totally unacceptable.

The support guys at F2H are excellent, and very patient with numpty-esque questions too :augie

They aren't the absolute cheapest you can find, but it's the old adage....you get what you pay for :thumb2
