What is a web master and what do they do?

I have seen on numerous web sites "web masters click here" what would happen if I clicked there, not being a web master?

Can I become my own web master?

Are there any benifits?

Will I get a discount on my computer insurance?

Webmasters are webmaserbakers.

If you click the link (I would not bother) they will probably offer you money for some kind of service that you provide them on your site.

By admitting to having seen the link "webmasters click here", you have inadvertently given away your web browsing patterns. The "webmasters click here" links tend to appear on, shall we say, Gentlemen's Leisure websites. Or at least, I have a friend who tells me this is the case. Not that I would know, obviously, never visiting that sort of website. Oh no.

Basically, the owners of such websites are trying to get other webmasters to place a link to their own site from other sites, and offer cash for so-called "click throughs", i.e. people who visit from a particular site.
