Me and some friends are going to Orkney next Friday and coming back on the Monday.

Any advice for me please on........

Things to see on the way to Gills Bay from Aberdeenshire

Where to go for a good breakfast (in Kirkwall) and good evening meal on the mainland

What pubs to go to

Where to find the easy girls for one recently divorced attendee :thumb

Where to stay preferably in Kirkwall

Ive been there twice before and my bro who's going used to live there but for the others it'll be new to them.

There are 5 (possibly six) of us going and if any of the scottish regiment would like to meet up for a ride or even come on trip with us then you are most welcome.

All great lads - GSA, Trumpet 1050 Sprint, Pan 1100, CBF 1000, TDM 900, K1100 LT.

Any help apreciated and if anybody would like to join for part or all of the trip then just PM me

Dave :)

The Whaligoe steps might be worth a look or Fortrose to see the Dolphins

We stayed in the West End Hotel in Kirkwall owned by a couple of poofs, but the Hotel was good, nice wee bar selling "skull crucher" :beerjug: 01856 872368 its near St Magnus Cathedral and private off road parking

The motorhouse (least i think thats what it was called) was good, just up from the harbour

Been several times, having your picture taken with the sign post for the village of "Twat" is a must. Also, annoy the locals by asking if the're Welsh, the accent sounds very similar to me, a much more friendly and welcoming place than the Western Isles:augie Enjoy.

Once you have crossed the Cromarty Bridge and just after Evanton, before Alness turn onto the B9176. It takes you over Struie Hill and there is a great viewing point showing the Dornoch Firth. Also a great road and more interesting than the A9.

Albert hotel in Kirkwall has a good bar. It suffered from a major fire a couple of years back but I'm reliably informed that the bar is as good as ever. Nice hotel, too.

7 miles south of Helmsdale look for a very narrow road on your left signed 'Glen Loth', cracking little detour. Come back into Helmsdale at the end of it and stuff yer face at 'La Mirage' caff just off the mini roundabout.

The Torvhaug Inn used to be a brilliant craic, I believe it's been done out recently, don't know what it's like now.
