On the way home on the 1150 this PM, we had been bimbling along (double white lines...booo!!) following two V-E-R-Y slow bikes for several miles, then when I went to overtake, the bike died on me. Both red warning lights came on (Non ABS by the way) , I quickly scanned the 'bars to ensure the kill switch hadn't been knocked, then coasted over to the verge. Put the bike into neutral, then pressed the starter and she fired up straight away...weird. Any SENSIBLE ideas folks????
Oh, and rather then overload the board, another question if I may?...
Why is it that I can sometimes put the side stand down with the engine continuing to run (in neutral), and other times when I do it the engine cuts out???
Could these be related???...dodgy cable somewhere????

Another place to check, the wiring harnes from the bottom of ignition key to the main wiring loom under the tank.

This happened to me. The moving of handlebars from one extreme to the other caused a stress fracture in the wires (a wiretie helped to cause the issue). I had a hard 200 mile ride home trying to keep the handlebars straight so it wouldn't kill the bike.

I see a lot of bikes with just the problem Guzzler had.

So i cut every cable tie on the bars, and around the headstock on my bike when i got it,so the cables and wires are free to move around, and aren't stressed at the same tiny point on every movement of the bars.
