Or, to be strictly accurate - my BMW Navigator II's screen.

I returned to the bike this afternoon, replaced the unit in its mount and switched it on. It seemed fine to start with, then I asked it to find a city (from 'Recently Found Places') and calculate a custom route there.

This is where it started acting up. It switched to the screen I'd expect if I'd used the touch screen to drag the map about. The picture was jittering about all over the place (as if I had my finger on the screen and was wiggling it left and right by a couple of mm). It also came up with a little dialogue box I'd not seen before which was, effectively, a bar chart type display showing the % progress with calculating the route.

I left the unit calculating, but was unable to change the display. I switched off, checked all the connections (which were all fine), then remonted it and switched it back on. The results were exactly the same.

I was a little stumped, but thought cleaning the screen might help (I'd not cleaned it for a few days and it was looking a little dusty). I wiped the screen and, as if by magic, the fault disappeared entirely...

Anybody had any reaction like this?

If its the touch screen model - has it been wedged somewhere and s'things been pressing on the screen ?

Has it started acting up as its got warmer ?

Could be the screen itself - or the overlay.

No - no internal powers source, so it's always 'off' when stored.

No - it's been coldish recently - but a similar ambient temperature for the last week or so.

Not sure I understand what you're asking - could what be the screen - there's no visible 'overlay'...
