Recently Windy Millar put up some wind turbines near us, so I decieded to take a run up to have a closer look.

After opening and closing more gates than I could count I finally arrived at the top where they stand majestically overlooking the the countryside.
They are massive, only one was turning and the sound from the blade as it cut through the air was amazing.

the bike parked next to one to give some sort of scale the little black dot on the right

Then the farmer arrived"your not allowed up here on your bike, insurance purposes you know":nono
but I was already up there :jibber

They're putting up similar turbines at Drumderg, near Alyth.
Two or three times I've met low loaders carrying the blades coming up the A94. Now these are bloody big things, so you can imagine the chaos they cause on the road, especially as they come in threes!! God knows how they manage to get over to Drumderg, 'cos it's a narrow twisty road over by Alyth Forest, plus they have to negotiate the narrow main street in Alyth itself. Must try to get some pics before the "delivery" is completed.

It's not just a matter of insurance purposes, is it...? If it's not the Public Highway then it's an offence under the terms of the Road Traffic Act which is the case for almost all off-roading in Scotland.

So where exactly are these windmills...? Remembering that I grew up in Langholm......:)

Good on you for reminding all these hooligans. Keep the dangerous, dirty, smelly, noisy bike thingies off of our land, there’s a good chap, what say. :blast:blast

Just remember, if he has a shotgun, either stop and say “yes sir/no sir” or drop a gear and give it some. So some bloke in the pub told me :augie
