What bluetooth headset for Zumo 550?

Looking for advice on what headset to get for my Zumo 550. I want to use the bluetooth for the directions and MP3 but do not really need the mic unless its part of the kit anyway. I would like simple to fit/use and not silly money...recomendations/options greatfully received.

I have been informed that the Sony Ericsson MBR100 Bluetooth receiver will 'capture' the transmissions from the Zumo unit and you can plug a 3,5mm jack into the MBR100. Thus you should be able to listen to your Zumo via standard helmet speakers without the need to use a Bluetooth headset.

However, I stress, that I haven't tried this idea and I am waiting for my MBR100 to arrive in the post. Give me a couple of days and I will reveal if it works.

Like you, I do not want to use an in-ear headset (dangerous) or be able to talk to anyone (I bought a bike to get away from the bloody office)

A Jabra A120s transmitter and a Sony MBR100 receiver will pair with each other allowing the Zumo to be used wirelessly with standard non-Bluetooth helmets thus saving a bundle on the Cardo Scala.

After a bit of faffing about, both components suddenly paired and I got full output from the Zumo, the only downside being re-charging the two items as they need specialist units, but they should provide about 5-10hrs of use. However, as a reversionary feature, the standard helmet headset will plug into the Zumo cradle.

The total cost was approx £50, everything bought on EBay at approx. 50% less than RRP. The

Hi Old Guy from this old guy. Won't the MBR100 work with the Bluetooth of the Garmin unit on it's own.Or do I have to buy the Jabra and plug it into the 3.5 Audio output Jack of my Garmin 2820.

You need the Jabra because the Zumo does not transmit Bluetooth in A2DP stereo (or whatever format) which is what the bluetooth signal the MBR 100 receives. The two items will not pair if the signals are not the same. The Jabra just plugs into the Zumos 3.5mm audio out jack and the two should then pair.

This is paired with a Jabra BT320S Bluetooth stereo headset which I have a pair of ultimate ear monitors plugged into. This gives stereo from the Zumo's MP3 player and also directions and alerts. With this set up I only have to have the Zumo set to around 30% volume for both music and prompts. And the BT320S is also set to around half volume so plenty of headroom left.
If your phone is blue toothed to the Zumo and it has auto answer you can hear the person on the other end but with this set up you can not talk to them.
With this set up when I am getting petrol I can still hear the music whilst I am at the kiosk paying.
It gives me between 4 and 5 hours use (constant music) and it is normally the BT320S headset dongle thingy that runs out of power first.
I did try using this set up with helmet speakers and foam ear plugs. But had to have all the volumes up to 101%. It must be an impedance thing as this was similar to having the helmet speakers directly wired to the Zumo.

The Zumo and MBR use different protocols, you need the Jabra 120S.

I didn't want to use a Bluetooth headset due to my recent 'off' . The shallow speaker headset did not damage my eardrums as I bounced down the road. I cannot swear that an 'in-ear' Bluetooth headset would have hurt me but no injuries to my head despite the helmet being written-off.
