Any cheap camel packs fit into that R2 jacket's special pocket dedicated for it?

I just found the place for it today puting the jacket into wash for the first time and taking it to pieces - damn complex astronaut's suit it is! Finally i understand why it's "made in China" - if it was made in EU it'd cost a zillion euros of labour time to put together that vastly complex jacket like the Rallye 2, really :bow

Would be nice to have a costco camel back in it tho since there's a special place for it...

Thanks'n'advance :thumb

UKGSer spa mode off and /me back to work :(

I bought the genuine article for mine ... don't think it was very expensive ... but its not exactly perfect either ... took me an age to get rid of the taste of plastic ... and if you fill it to the lid its too heavy for the press studs...

Theres a space for a camelbak in the rallye 2??!!! :eek :eek

I never knew that...

But then again I also had to ask what that big square detachable thing with the see through front was for..

Added this later:

My 3L camelbak reservoir fits the pocket, but the 'big bite valve' I have fitted wont go through the holes on the inside of the jacket... but camelbak do have smaller valves which would probably be ok.

Clever system, but if you don't mind wearing a backpack you'd save a lot of bother refilling the reservoir. As for camelbak in general, I think theyre very good, and work better than the others. But they are more expensive.

hope that helps!!

BTW does anyone else find their Red Rallye 2 fades!! :spitfire is it my washing or just general riding in muck? :D :D

Cheers

I haven't bothered with the bladder pocket in the Rallye 2, I't's a pain to fill up, I just use the 3 litre Camelbak Mule as a rucksack, much easier and you can carry other stuff in it too :thumb

Can't you pull the valve off, thread the tube through and reattach valve? :nenau

That's for the map so your lady can read it for you :thumb you can take it off and put it to your front too, so you can take it off with two bottom pushbuttons only and look on the map yourself when lost, quick fix back on and continue to ride :thumb

Not really. What camel bak exacly do you have? And can you fix it with those two push buttons somehow or it lies in the bottom of the pocket?

I just washed mine and it's red again. It fades with dirt. It's the first time i washed it tho, so can't tell if it fades with multiple washing or not. But this is not an issue for me, it looks the dogs when dirty and it looks too good and expensive when clean anyway - you can get killed for the clothing on the street :D

PS: you can use the jacket as a vest too - just take off the sleeves and intter protector layer with CE protectors.

Inner protector layer comes off separately, so you don't have to wash it if not needed, can only wash the outer jacket that get's more dirty. Also this option give you the chance to use a real motocross of offroad protective vest beneth it.

The detachable pocket assembly on the back is acctually for the tools to work on the bike in the desert like these guys originally had to do used the same clothing and helped to develop it in the Sahara with +40C in the day and -10C degrees in the nights hardcore rallye riding:

It's probably the only jacket and pants commercially for sale that are developed between Paris-Dakar-Cairo :bow

Pity i'm not using it for this purpose :D :mmmm

Sorry!! I'll try and be more helpfull here ;) . I use a standard 3 litre Camelbak reservoir. It was designed to go into Camelbaks own rucksack designs (I have the HAWG backpack). The only way of securing it to anything is by a smallish hook built into the lid at the top. I've just had a go at attaching a bit of string between the two buttons in the Rallye and hooking the camelbak reservoir onto that. It works after a fashion but i dont think it would stand up to lots of bumping around. Obviously having only just discovered the pocket exists I haven't been able to test it in the field!!

I think i'll stick to keeping the camelbak in the separate rucksack. IMHO its more secure to your body, easier to refil, and hanging three litres of water from the back of the Rallye jacket felt a uncomfortable, it didnt sit right, maybe the genuine BM kit addresses this :nenau

Try here:

then:

Sports - recreation > accessories > reservoirs > 'Omega Reservoir 100oz'

Hope thats helps more :)

As with Rallye Red its a shame it doesnt come pre faded, but then you'd miss out on all the fun of getting it faded yourself!!! :D :D :D

This one might be suitable too..............................
