I couldn't find a photo section (although I'm sure that someone is going to point me to one) anyway my battered old Nikon Coolpix P3 (8.1 pixels) that has been living in my tank bag for many years is falling to bits and needs replacing.

Can anyone suggest a similar suitable replacement. I need a small robust digital that can live most of it's life in my tank bag or slip into my pocket. water resistance might be useful although I have been using a plaggy bag for years, and a reasonable optical zoom would be good?

Cheers :thumb2

I have an Olympus TG2 kicking about somewhere that has been used maybe half a dozen times ( I may even have the box and instructions somewhere)

If you are interested i would sell it cheap

There is a section for this. Anyway there is a or was a Canon for sale in the for sale section.

I use a Panasonic 14 mega pixel, its water proof shock proof and has an alloy body so is quite robust. It takes nice photos too.
There are plenty of similar cameras around. Just need to find one you like.

I've been using the Panasonic Lumix Tz range for years , always good results, though I would say that the latest in the range have too much gadgetry built in for my needs. Currently using a Tz35.

I've had great luck with both the Nikon AW120 and Panasonic Lumix TS20. The Nikon is the current one I use. Has lived in a rugby bag, saddle bag, Mounted like a go-pro, been bounced down mountains, through the mud, etc... Love it. Grippy rubberized buttons so easy to use with a glove, waterproof so no worries about rain/mud/etc. It also shoots great video.

Before that I had the Panasonic, also worked for the same deal. Was less impressed with the Pic quality and audio on vids. The case was "slippery" and I didn't have the good sense to use a tether at that point... It's somewhere off the coast of Longboat Key in The Gulf of Mexico...

I will have a Nikon D3200 18-25 VR II Kit up for sale which I will shortly list in the sales section when I have compressed all the pictures.
Reason for selling is that I mostly end up using my iphone whilst on the go. The Nikon was initially purchased for wedding anniversary for which I wanted to make some nice photographs.

Hi Redrick,

I could be interested in your TG2, I don't seem to be able to PM you, but perhaps you could pm me with your price. I'm just across the road from you in Sunny Scunny.

Hi Caesi,

The D3200 is a splendid tool but a bit bigger than what I'm looking for to squeeze into my smallish tank bag, however many thanks for the heads-up. :thumb2

Nikon AW30

Waterproof to 15 metres, rugged and most importantly takes excellent photos and video.

Has gps which is great to remind you where photos are taken and has wifi so you can transfer straight to phone or iPad.

Sony RX100 :thumb2

A brilliant camera. I am on my second , but they ain't rugged or waterproof and good at living in a tank bag without being in a case.

My father In law also has one but for messing about outdoors on walks by the beach etc he takes his Olympus TG4. A very good camera and I will be getting one before a trip with the family to Disney later this year.

I always use an ever ready type case and hang it around my neck for easy access when touring in interesting areas (OK, not the cleverest thing to do from a safety perspective) and pop it into the tankbag if it starts to rain. I haven't had any reliability issues. The digital viewfinder is brilliant in sunny weather on my current RX100 Mk.3

Tough/waterproof cameras are always comparatively poor in terms of image quality, so they're a non-starter for me.

Thank guys, that's great, plenty of really helpful info for me to check out. :thumb
