I have looked at the threads for the front cover touch up and the removing of the foam (which I Have done).

However just cleaned mine today (that will get some comments) and I have noticed a few spots of corosion . looks like stone chips rather than genearal rot. So I was thinking about rubbing down the spots and touching in.

So what colour is the engine and front cover on a 07 1200GS

No comments about 1150 and the such like please :comfort

Is There a reason why you didn't do all of the front face of the cover .... I'm sure it would look better than seeing the join between the original & the Hammerite..... If the front face was done completely, the join could be where the cover changes angle so your eye wouldn't be drawn to it.

regards

At the moment it's just a few chips. I just want to stop this spreading further by touching up.

I would not settle for the "Hamerite" colour match. That's why I am asking the question to see if anyone knows of a good match.:rob

There's a guy on ebay doing Wurth primer, paint & lacquer - 6 cans for £65.47

100% feedback on over 700 items

For 2 Tossers that's £32.74 each (1 primer, 1 paint & 1 lacquer)

He sells primer for £21.48 each & paint for £11.45 each but the 6 pack is a special deal.

That site bettlejuice posted is selling the primer for £16.61 and the paint & primer for £11.99 each. £40.49 for the same 3 cans.

Try a touch up stick of Volkswagen Reflex Silver. I think the match is good and OK for stone chips - Best of luck!

Check out Wurth (its German of course, what else) Silver wheel touch up paint, combined with the same companies lacquer gives a finish that is pretty close to the factories original finish and it seems pretty durable

you can find it at:

:thumb2 Thanks for the tip beetlejuice.

Just placed my order for the silver paint & the lacquer, £11.99 + £11.99 (btw, performancemotorcare accept PayPal) & I've bought some acid etch primer, £11.49 from Halfords.

I'll post my results up once it's done so expect 'another' engine case thread soon.

:beerjug:

Here's my 'Before' photo from my 2005 GS.
Funnily enough, the condition under the plastic cover is fine!

I've just realised I'll only need 2 coats of primer & about the same paint & lacquer so I'll have loads left over. If anyone wants to make an offer for my left-overs feel free to PM me!

Total spent on 3 aerosols so far £35.47 :augie
