I'm new to this site and new to GS ownership so please cut me some slack if this has been asked before.
I've bought an 07 1200GS which has been very well looked after and I would like to preserve its good looks so engine bars are on the shopping list. Any advice whether to go for BMW OE bars (can you still buy new?) or aftermarket would be appreciated.

Ps what does "bump" mean on forum replies?

Have a hunt around on google or ebay there are many suppliers and prices I got a set of lower crash bars that hug around cylinder heads on my GSA(sorry don't have a link will post if I find it) that aren't too ugly and have already saved the bike once.
I imagine you have some idea of what you are after.

Try here Motorworks https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=5&NU=15&M=35&Ct=MA&SbCt=BA_15_35_MA_20

Bump is used to update an older add/post. Regular users tend to just click on the recent posts option so older threads get dropped down the list so you 'bump' it back up again.

I too have Heed (look them up on ebay) on my R1100GS.
Happy about what looks like a strong design and bang for the buck!

Crash bars

I ordered some Altrider engine bars at the NEC bike show which were not cheap but sweetened by a bit of show discount and free p&p. Very happy with the quality and protection they offer. Look good too.
