I pick up an 09 (July) GSA next Saturday week. Its side cases are a bit bashed. We agreed a price and they said they might be able to sort them out. I get an email a few days later to say they can't fix them but will give me a new pair for £400. That's a good price (I think). So I said go ahead.

Now I am trading in an 05 K1200S that has those crappy side cases that look like fly's eyes. So do I take them off and eBay them or let them have them with the bike. Perhaps I should say they can have them for £400? They have not seen my bike yet even though they have agreed a price. Brought the K from them last October and paid extra for the cases.

If I do sell them privately what do I do about the key matching - give them one of my keys and let BMW know I have lost the other key!!

The honest side of me is saying don’t but I do feel slightly aggrieved about paying another £400.

I think £400 is a good deal tbh...I think your looking at mid £500's...I paid £890 for a set with top box...

...and that was at a 'special price'

take them off

most dealers wont bother. your bike has a value to them in a book and the panniers wont affect this, although if youve mentioned them when getting your part ex price you may have to include them.

dont give your key away! just sell them on ebay, the buyer can get his own locks, i would take the locks out.

If you've declared them them the dealer will probably deduct money if you don't include them, rainbow knocked £250 off my Tiger as I sold the Panniers to my uncle instead.

get the old uns off them too, and sell em on, after all, your paying for both sets

I had a 2nd hand K1200S back at the end of 2006, before I traded the bike I took the panniers off and eBay'd them - got £415 + £15 P&P.....

If when they valued the bike the panniers were on they'll knock money off if they aren't when you trade it in

Got an extra £400 onto my trade in price on my VFR for it having full luggage

Pound to a pinch of shit they won't give them to you. I feckin wouldn't especially if I'd shelled out for a new set:augie Look out for a slightly damaged set of panniers on e-bay soon:D

I emailed the rep a while ago and put my name on the bashed ones......

eBay here we come and the K ones two:JB

The boxes came free with an 09 GSA ,£400 seems a bit much, more like the retail price than the price they would have got them for,you should have had a little phone around other dealers and played them off against each other

I did - no one else got anywhere near.

I'd keep the crummy ones on the bike for now & save the new ones for your RTW adventure...
