What do you think of the LC

Like Engineer said...I too have had the bike for 2 days and it does get better and better...feeling a little ill tonight so may have to take a week off work and do some recuperation in the fresh air ( as long as its not raining :D )

Had a trip upto NOG this afternoon, to see the new bike. Having had numerous BMWs in the past, including the first GS1200 back in 2004 and several GSA1200's, I have to say I was mighty impressed, superb quality and love the styling. :thumb

To those who have done the deal, congrats on your new purchase and enjoy. Had a play with the sat nav controls on the bars, all I can say is, pay the price and enjoy the ease of use while riding, it's great.

Had a look in Vines yesterday and for me the jury's out regarding the looks.

More 'different' than I was expecting - as someone mentioned the bodywork is more enclosed and I don't like the tail light much. Why did they put the tyre valve on the spoke ? The rear exhaust can needs swapping over with an Akro.

Some really nice details like the accessable adjustment knob for the screen - great idea. I also like the fact you can remove the rear foot pegs/ hangers if you go for the single seat look.

I'm sure it will grow on me - I didn't like the 1200 when it first came out. For now I still prefer the look of the Twin Cam in many respects. The bodywork around the screen is nicer though - inspired by the Touratech fairing perhaps?

Can somebody explain what they mean by better build quality. How do you come to that conclusion in the showroom.

Better integrated design, compared to the earlier 1200's that seems to have been designed by individuals, locked in their own rooms and looks like a lego block bike in comparison:D

Possibly ;)

Horses for courses. It's another step towards a purely road focused bike though. I'm not saying that's a bad thing as that's where I spend 100% of my time and Im sure I would prefer the performance/ ride.

Still prefer the look of the twin cam for now - more dual purpose IMO :P

I waana one... But I'm waiting for a number of reasons.

By next year the GSA variant will be out, so the accessories for that will be available and all the 3rd party guys will have got their bits and pieces together. Machine-Art, Givi, Michelin, Dunlop (maybe) etc.

The bike may be ready, but the rest of the market isn't.

If you think I'd consider TT UK's prices for parts, think again... Ho ho ho.

I had a 1200GS, got it new on a 57 plate. Now I have a new LC.

Took some panels off on Sunday to route in a new sat nav cable and to be honest the build quality over the old one is not that much better in my opinion.

However the attention to detail is way above. The cables are better routed. There is more design in the assembly and the way the panels come off and go back on is just that little bit better.

There is a positive spare near the battery so you can access the negative and positive with out removing the battery now it's forward of the original position on the old bike.

It's just details but they all add up to make it better.

Yes they've clearly put a lot of thought into it and most of the changes are an improvement. The cockpit area is much better (screen, fairing , clocks, etc). I prefer the new wheels although not convinced about the valve placement. The LED lights look great hopefully will be reliable (the dealer mentioned they need a fan - may have mis heard though).

Overall an impressive effort. I do think it's another step away from the original GS concept however.

Yes, it does have a fan, I think it's to cool the lithium crystals, aye captain !

The speedo is too small, I'm going to get some little fluorescent stickers and place them at 100mph and 120 mph and 140 mph. That way I'll know what speed to do on motorways and A roads. I don't slow down for horses!

It's an evolution ....

Went to the open day yesterday and not really keen.

It seems to be getting more like a normal road bike. I know most of us spend nearly all or time on the road but I do ride year round.
There is little room for a fender extendeder or crud catcher so are they to become like KTMs and need a wash every ride.

I don`t expect to find out what its like soon, as the part-ex price was stupid low.

What do new owners think?

Nick
I don't know... Better dynamic ESA III, Enduro pro mode, wet clutch... I think the opposite: it should also be a better off-road GS.

Go on tell us your part ex price :aidan

Saw the new bike first in Cologne at Intermot & then again last Friday night at an evening preview. Definitely want one, but like everything else, depending on how much my current bike is worth. Bearing in mind that my bike is a May 2011 Triple Black with both Premium & Dynamic packs & cost £13440 new, I had hoped for slightly more than I was offered - £9300 including my panniers.
Another dealer I rang out of the area thought that was actually a good price
I think I'll have to wait a bit longer, I've never lost £4k in less than 2 years on a bike before. Of course once I've had a test ride I might change my mind :D

Ride it - it looks a stormer

I bought a triple black GS on a pre reg for £11500 a year ago and got offered £10k in px against a new one which I thought was ok but still can't justify it at the moment shop around.

I had a test ride today (two up ) what a cracking bike engine is really strong although it did feeel a bit wrong reving a boxer engine up to 9,000 rpm.It pulls like a trian all the way through the rev range and is very smooth .gear box and cluutch are an improvement clutch is very light and gearbox is positive .I messed about with the riding modes very easy to use and changable on the move ,although the dynamic mode is a bit to responsive for two up riding unless your passenger is holding on well .Good reports from the back seat not too much buffeting etc and seat was comfortable .its a shame they are sold out until June

cheers C'n'C:thumb:thumb
