Hi Guys,

I'm looking to purchase a GARMIN Sat-Nav for my 1200GS but also to use it the the car as well & on foot.

I'm looking for a model that has NO fancy add-ons, like mp3 player or answer the mobile through, but HAVE the facility to plug in an earpiece or Bluetooth to hear voice directions. A benefit would be a good battery life say, 4 hours when using on foot, pedestrian mode.

It does not necessarily have to be waterproof, as I think you can now purchase an all weather case & mounting kit for bikes.

Your replies will be most grateful...

Thank you,
Mike

You're looking for something that I don't think they make. The only Garmins to connect to a Bluetooth earpiece are the Zumos, which do come with car mounts and internal batteries for pedestrian use. Bluetooth on Nuvis does not connect to an earpiece, only a telephone. No current car models have an audio output but try eBay for a Nuvi (not Zumo) 660 which has a 3.5mm headphone socket, although it does have an MP3 player built-in and will almost certainly have very old maps installed.

Before buying a car model for the GS, sort out how you intent to power it. You'll need to wire in a lighter socket somewhere to plug in the power lead, which is more stuff to waterproof. Best bet is to find a 2610 on eBay, fit it to the GS and use OpenStreetMap mapping (loads of threads in the 2610 section) and buy a cheap Nuvi for car and pedestrian use.

incorect information from the above post, the nuvi 7 series can connect via bluetooth and also have headphone jack socket for wired headset and also have internal battery. please note that these are older units but are still available refurbed at very good prices.

+1 for the montana.
I've had 276C, 2610, 2720 etc etc and this is the best bar none.
Fast, waterproof, configurable and with a little bluetooth transmitter it will pair with a headset. I have mine paired with my Sena smh10.

Why not go to the Garmin website and see which/if any fits your requirements?
