graphics cards

just was upgrading my own board recently, I would play a lot of Command and conquer which has a lot of animation similar to the games you mentioned, we have the same chipset so I can guess your graphics card is a PCI-E (but you should check this)
I current use a ATI Radeon 5450 series... works perfect with C&C
I installed recently for a buddy which was the GEFORCE GT240 DDR5 PCI-E (£82.99)
but check to make sure all cards are compatible with your board, these cards are big on performance and not so big on price, there are many others in between like Asus ATI HD 4670.
then at the high end there is
ATI Radeon HD 5870 - £300+
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 1.79GB DDR3 Graphics Card £300 +
it does depend on a lot of things, some people overclock, but I have never done this myself as it shortens the life of the item.
for best performance that I have seen on my own box, I threw 4gb of hyperX ram from Kingston in there, then bought the ATI card, it made a huge difference to the machine, loadtimes etc...
I buy all my cards on ebay..... never had a problem and saved a load of cash compared to the high street and electronic stores around me
