What have they done to my brakes?

Bike got taken into main dealer for its 24k service and annual looksee
(and yes, if Steptoe was closer, I'd have gone there)

Anyways, bike is back - picked up last thing and on the way home I have a couple of exciting moments as the front brake lever no longer operates the front brake, it just seems to like travelling back to the handlebar. Double grabbing becomes the order of the journey home.......

Tie the brake lever back over a couple of nights (on sidestand with right side highest). Took it out just now - no improvement. :eek:

Plan on going back to dealer tomorrow... unless there's an obvious solution.
 
Thats pretty shoddy Pete where'd you get it done was it the new dealer?
Think i'd be kicking someones arse :spitfire

Yup...just needs a bleed through from the sound of it...back to dealer and they should do it plus promise you a good discount on your next toy or bit of kit for the shoddy service, or save some time and do it yourself...it's not rocket science ;)
 
This is worrying, as it's a safety issue and should be done properly.

On the other hand, if you performed a low speed rolling brake test as you were on the dealer's forecourt, you'd have known immediately that the brakes were dodgy and they'd have fixed them there and then.

It's a lesson for all. Test your brakes as you go down your drive, and not at the first 60mph corner!

On my 300quid+ receipt, the "roadtest" box is ticked, so presumably the mechanic reckons it's allright for the brakes to work like that.

I appreciate it's not rocket science as Bill points out, but as I take the bike to a dealer because I don't trust myself to do it properly, surely I should just be able to get on the thing afterwards and ride off. If I wanted air in me barake pies, I could do that..............

Oh well, back to dealers and see what they say.

All that tick means is the bloke's pen was working.
 
This is scarey stuff.

The workshop manager needs to know - IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that his mechanics have :

a) Done a job badly
b) Signed it off as acceptable
c) Completed the work without doing a roadtest
d) Not had someone double check brake work - ie workshop foreman.

If you had sailed down the road into a juggernaut turning across your path then how would Mr Manager be feeling now ?

i'd verbally rip his head off :spitfire
 
Think yourself lucky -

Most people have to spend a great deal of money buying a servo braked bike for the same experience :D :D
