What is Normady like for good trails?

Looking for a one week desination next spring,

I see there are a few companies who do trail riding in Normandy so must be OK but will there be plenty of variety for a week of exploring off our own bat?

I've seen the pics of the hedgerow type trails but wonder what else to expect.


Its this or travel further down south to the Massif.

Been to Normandy a couple of times now, and I'd go again. Even to have a mooch round by myself with bike and map.
The locals are not bothered by a few bikes scooting round, and the only trails that must be avoided have red and white 'no vehicular entrance' signs. But I'm sure you know the score.....

PS. The 'Bocage' are the most spectacular sunken trails, similar to what can be found in parts of Devon and Cornwall....

Our alternative location is the Massif, although obviously further away. Not sure what parts of this area is best for a base though. I see quite a bit of it is parc land. From experience there are more no access signs in other parc areas I've been to but still some good trails to ride.

The general rule now is to avoid national Parks as any unsurfaced roads are out of bounds now. The local riders steer clear of the parks, and to be fair there is plenty of other places to go.

Try Normandy, and have a bit of an adventure round.....
