I have no idea how old this bike is, but I really like its look. Anyone know what it is?

I am assuming it's a factory model, rather than one that has been converted with wider bars, headlight guard, single seat etc.

Google shows that there are several models that fit that bill - 1950s to Early 1960s Paul.

They all look identical to me…

Thanks Brian - yes those look pretty close don't they?

I love these older bikes, they have such nice details, most of which we've lost over the years.

These look like they have the hinged rear mudguards to assist wheel removal. When did that stop being a good idea??

Fuel tank cubby holes, even before toll roads made having your credit card to hand such a useful thing! Front mudguards that don't demand aftermarket extenders. And how tasty are those panniers with built-in sidelights!

It’s an American spec R60/2 ( or maybe R50/2) you can tell by the cross braced handlebars and the telescopic forks as an alternative to the Earle’s forks on European market versions.

Thanks Paul, that's great additional detail.

And as a bonus, dirtybiker you can also add 'probably American' to your summation!

Almost certainly. I'm quite surprised nobody has taken a close inspection of the wording on the shirt. East DC M/c

/2 American model….or slash 3…
the European ones had earls forks instead of telescopic forks.
all /3 models had telescopic forks..
so r50/3 or r60/2 American, or r69/2 with telescopic forks retro fitted
Slash 2 models used by French police mid 60s…. But they had earls forks…..looked great

most likely a r50/3….. late 1950s, to early 1960s.

I too love the looks of these bikes…. Very classic, and very classy.
/2 bikes were usually white, or all black with white pinstripes (tho I have seen red ones, just not sure if that was a factory colour)

I would love one…… or a later engine in a /2 frame…..
