I'm going to do an oil and filter change on my F650Gs 2000 model with 16500 miles on the clock but can't find out what oil to use. Can anybody tell me? Don't want to start a mass-debate about it like there seems to be on 'chain gang' site just need to know what can to buy .

Book says 10/40 min but semi syn is ok don't forget you have a wet clutch

I have read the f*ckin manual and read alot of threads with many conflicting 'opinions' which only served to confuse further. So I thought I would try and get a more definative answer from what appeared to be an informative forum. I'm pleased to see some members are willing to offer advice rather than just throw down emotions from an ivory tower.

Hi Tony

I usually use Castrol GP 4T, Semi synthetic SAE 10W40 on my Dakar. Any other well known oil brand will have a similar oil with the same specs and quality.
Oil and filter change every 10.000 km´s and my bike still starts and runs perfect.
