Hey gang,

Ok fixed the GS over the weekend... A kindly man from Mon Dial helped (well you pay for it so why not use em, thats what I say...!)

Anyway, turned out the impact had shifted the microswitch, so after a bit of jiggling (and half the front end stripped down), all that was needed was to loosen the screw holding said microswitch and wiggle it back into position where the brake light went off, then, tighten up screw and listen to happy brake servos whine to themselves... :D  :D

No my next mission, sort out the scratches on the rocker cover... Any body have a clue as to what sort of paint it is? 2 Pac, Celluose? Acrylic? etc? a paint code would be dead handy too..

thanks for the help and thanks for the future help... :clap :clap :clap

I seem to recall that BMW being eco-friendly used a water based paint on their engines, so it may be worth asking if they supply touch-up paint to suit.

Smooth hammerite in silver is excellent for touching up the frame and H&B bars

Spare screen

Got a spare unused 1200GS screen available if you happen to need one?

Shep is correct. It is a water based paint and BMW don't supply a touch up stick. If your prepared to paint the whole area you can use Autoglym Silver Wheel Paint or Hammerite Smooth. We get good results with both of these.

Thanks guys, so if it is waterbased, then I'm sure i can find one to match and then put a lacquer over the top... Cheers

Thanks John :thumb , but the Screen and rest of the bike survived intact, just a smashed indicator and scratched rocker cover... :clap

Will probably wait until after the Dragon to do the paintwork... Water based paint will taken ages to properly harden.... Anybody else from here going for a couple of days of freezing your t*ts off camping in Wales ? :nenau :nono :nenau

Cheers
