Hi all,

In a couple of weeks I'll be the proud owner on a brand new Nitron rear shock courtesy of Jonathan at Rugged Roads. Now my question is what to do with old one. I appreciate that after 45k miles it could do with a trip to one of those canny chaps who can convert it into a serviceable item but is there much a market for these ie. do other peps ever want to buy one?

This isn't supposed to be a sneaking sales pitch but rather just a question as if there is any interest/ market for this I'll advertise it correctly on here or ebay or stick it at the back of the garage and forget about it...

Any thoughts much appreciated.

There have been a few people who have asked for them but you may not get the value of the refurbishment back.

I was fortunate enough to get the development shocks done on my bike and you won't be disappointed.

I've kept my old shock just in case I want to return to standard - after 70,000 odd miles it doesn't owe me anything.

Keep it for when you need to get the fancy one serviced, standard ones of that age are worth next to nothing it seems.

I have a pair of OEM 1150adv shocks that have only done 2k miles (they're in the garage loft) so can always use them if I need to sell the Ohlins currently fitted.

Fit the old one back on when you sell the bike, then you can sell the nitron on to increase your capital for your next purchase :)

I was wondering the same today....I have a pair of OEM shocks from a lebbenfiddy GSA that are in really REALLY good order.......Ideally I'd like to convert them into cash, but I suspect it's not worth it.

I'm probably going to get them reconditioned then keep them as spare for when my Wilburs need doing over, then I won't be off the road for more than the few hours it takes to swap them in and out :thumb2

Interested in an upgrade

Thanks

I clicked on this thread thinking I might get some non-bike related ideas for putting an old shock to use; like inventing something for the workshop, down on the farm, making something cool, that sort of thing.
Just curious for ideas for an old shocks. ??
