Hi Folks - getting my 04 650 out of retirement to do some trailing in Spain (its here already!) and wondered what would be the right tyre choice.

Its mainly dry trails though occassional water crossing and mud, and there will be minimal (perhaps 2-300 miles a year) on road - getting to and from tracks.

I need to get the tyres shipped to me in Spain and have a local fit them (or may be adventurous and do it myself).

Q. What to get
Q. What would I need in the way of Tubes for them
Q Where to get them
Q. How much should I be paying

Appreciate advice / feedback.

It all depends on wheel size (you don't say whether it is 19" or 21" front wheel).

Personally I'd go for TKC's if it's 19" front wheel, or MT21 Pirelli if it's 21" front.

They should do whatever you want to do fairly effectively.

There are plenty of 21" fronts to choose from, but the 17" rear is a pain as it limits choice massively :thumb

Ignore the recommended PSI as it is too high. 21-25psi is about right :thumb

Tubes........mmmmm Black round ones. I use heavy Duty ones, but if your gonna get a puncture, usually the tube makes naff a difference, your gonna get punctures either way. Cost is about £10 each.

Tyres should cost about £110 fitted, but Spain may be cheaper or dearer.

Have fun:thumb

Ta FlipFly - its a 19" front with Tourance's on at the mo.

TKCs are the best bet then really. They handle pretty well on road and are ok off road. Front tyre is weakest link with a 21" TKC because the tread is too close together, but I think it's wider apart on the 19" like the front TKC is on an 1150. This actually makes the tyre feel far nicer IMHO.

Andalucia is with a C by the way, not an S :thumb

If you pronounce it as an S (as opposed to a th) then they'll mark you out as a gringo straight away :D:D:D

My mum lives near Almeria and I speak the lingo fluently. You watch, get the pronunciation correct and ya bar bill will halve overnight :thumb
