Anybody who has not got Audio on a LC had a look behind the speaker covers? Bloke I met in BMW dealer today said he had friends who have used the empty area behind for storage. Might take a look tomorrow.

A friend of mine has done just that. he changed the 2 screws for thumb screws. To make it easier to remove.
Then there is a big space to stuff a small dry bag in to.

Yes plenty of space, thumb screws are a good idea, there is also plenty of space under the passenger seat and into the tail of the rear light

Had a look and with thumb screws fitted it will be an ideal space for spare bulbs and the like.

Thumb screws? are they like wing nuts? Great idea as there is loads of space there.
I'm disappointed at the messy installation of all the electrical stuff under the tail. If it had been neater there would have been loads more room under there.

Sounds like a good idea.

Any ideas on what size thread etc?

Seem to recall thumb screws used to be a thing of torture, lol.
Wing nuts are of the same sort of design but would only work if you had a bolt coming through from the inside of the cover onto which you threaded the wing nut, and even then you would risk losing the bolt every time you took the cover off. Thumb screws will screw in much the same as the existing screw but you will be able to undo with fingers/thumbs and won't need a tool.
Will be measuring up the current fixing screw in the morning.

Sounds like a good idea for the accessory market, RT speaker grills replaced by small luggage compartments.
