HI Chaps, time for some new touring rubber for the road bike.
Which gives the highest mileage?
And decent ride and grip?
MAny thanks Paul

Round and black were doing some good deals on the old Avon Azaros last month. I got a pair for the Pan for less than £150 delivered. I like 'em, not everyone does ...

michelin pilot II's, I get 20,000 front 15,000 rear compared to Anakees 12,000 front, 9,000 rear. FANTASTIC all round tyre (though I guess most tyres are all round, unless they are flat) BRILLIANT in the wet. May be grippier tyres out there in the dry but can't fault the Mich's meself, though I know some don't like 'em. If you do big milages in all weathers I think they are the bizz

+1 on Avons. Great mileage and the puncture warranty is what makes the a cut above the rest.

puncture warranty means that if you get a puncture within the first (i think 1.5mm??? someone correct me!) then they will replace the tyre free of charge.

The old avon azaros were ok i thought, i got on with them and yeah... mega mileage but they do move around a bit and took some getting used too. The new one... the avon storms are the replacement model and are superior in wet and dry grip (IMO) and mileage remains very high.

I also had a problem with the old azaros picking up stones all the time and flinging them at anyone riding behind me. Very large tread grooves allowed this. The storms are not such a problem.

You never said what bike you want tyres for though. Im sure that could affect things. If its for a trailee i would go with contintal trail attacks - huge mileage (8000 miles and about half worn on my klv!)- amazing grip in the wet, more so than any other tyre i have had, and pretty cheap from round and black.

Rick,

how do you manage these milages then? Do you push the bike everywhere??:D Best I have managed was 3800 for a rear Anakee!!

4500 mile's to Bulgaria n back, both tyres still like new..that included navigating around very bad pot holed Romania

Tyres are Anakees , iv now done another 1000 mile ridin around back roads , n yup still loads of tread....oh ye a dont ride like an old ma....(he,he. tuned:augie) so they get my vote...:thumb

Sports bikes: Pilot Road II

Trailies: Tourances (original pattern)
Avon Azero/Storm

For a road tyre, I find the Pilot Road II hard to beat. Great grip on the shoulders, and longevity in the centres.
